Fred and Jim are probably right. I would suggest you loosen the rear of the tank and slide it back to see if it's loose. If it is, a very easy way to reinstall the tank is to rub either talcum powder or a little bit of olive oil in the tank cups or on the rubber mounts before you put the tank on. It also helps to have a second set of hands when you're mounting the tank, allowing one person to push on the rear while the other one guides the front, to make sure that the cups actually slide onto the rubber mounts. If your mounts still rattle in the cups, get some black RTV silicon (aka Form-a-gasket). Put a bead inside the rear of each cup, up against the tank walls and stick the tank on. The silicon will stick to either the tank or the cup, usually not both, and take up the slack of worn mounts. Case closed!
